Kids Rights Canada was honored to participate as a Canadian delegate at the IFWY forum, co-hosted by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development. Together with 50 advocates from across North America, we contributed to a policy recommendation submitted to the UN General Assembly, including a call for mandatory independent Children’s Commissions at both regional and national levels for UNCRC signatory states.
Our founder also delivered a speech highlighting the importance of prioritizing children’s rights and welfare in policymaking, emphasizing that children and youth represent not only the future but also the present of society. Recognizing their voices as capable contributors is essential to building stronger economies, healthier communities, and more resilient democracies.
This recommendation reflects our mission to advocate for meaningful child and youth participation in governance, reinforcing the belief that investing in young people’s voices strengthens democracy, promotes equity, and builds more sustainable communities.
